Evacuation from Facilities
A university facility may be evacuated due to a fire, bomb threat, hazardous material release, or other emergency. |
• |
An evacuation may be initiated either by the activation of a fire alarm or by direct instructions from emergency personnel |
• |
Comply with the specific instructions in an orderly fashion |
• |
If you are in charge of others you may be asked to inform them of the evacuation instructions and to help guide them from the facility |
• |
Persons operating equipment that poses a hazard if left unattended should, if at all possible, shut down the equipment prior to evacuating |
• |
When evacuated you will be directed to a rally point or shelter |
• |
Persons at the rally point may be asked to identify themselves in case medical screening or decontamination becomes necessary |
• |
At the rally point you should attempt to account for co-workers, students, classmates, fellow residents, etc. and to inform emergency personnel if persons are missing or unaccounted for |
• |
No one should leave the rally point until instructed to do so by emergency personnel |
